Looking for Inexpensive Auto Insurance

In an effort to keep my expenses as low as possible, I routinely evaluate my bills to determine if I am doing my very best.

My main areas of expenses are:

  1. Rent (which is too high)
  2. Utilities
  3. Cell Phones
  4. Internet
  5. Debt Repayment
  6. Car Insurance
  7. Car Maintenance
  8. Netflix/BlockBuster
  9. Food/Health & Beauty Purchases, etc.

I am admittedly paying more in rent than I should be. When the issue with the mold in my previous apartment happened, I wanted to get out of that place so quickly that I took the first place I could find that was as close to my kids’ school as possible. Now that I’ve lived here awhile, I know that I need to look for a cheaper place. I dread moving but it needs to be done. (My lease is up on 10/31 and I’m either moving or increasing my income drastically so I can afford this; that is a whole other post)

My utilities are as low as they possibly can be. I nag about turning off electricity, keep the A/C set about 78degrees and do everything I can to conserve water.

I’m not going to cancel internet because I need it for school and working, plus I can write off as a business expense at the end of the year.

One area that I can look to cut costs is with my car. In order to do that I have been looking around for cheap insurance quotes online. I have a relatively inexpensive plan right now but I am always looking for a place to save on my car insurance. If I can find a place that offers the same coverage but at less money, then I’m going to change companies.

It’s worth doing the research once or twice a year to make sure I’m saving every where that I can.

I do splurge on one area and that is my movie subscription service. It was only $8 a month from Netflix and I was happy with it until this summer. I found that I wasn’t using it because I couldn’t get the shows that I wanted with their internet streaming. So I switched to Blockbuster thanks to a deal I found at Swagbucks. Now I’m paying $10 a month and mailing in dvd’s. The benefit for me is that (on top of getting a bunch of Swagbucks in my account) I am watching shows I’ve wanted to watch for ages. Hello True Blood!

I’m doing fairly well with my expenses with the exception of rent. As much as I love living in this apartment, I think it’s time to admit it costs far too much for my income level. So now I either increase my income or find something different.
