It’s Women’s Money Week 2012

Women’s Money Week has begun!

Women's Money Week 2012 Participant

*Side Note: This post was supposed to go up yesterday but my server was down and then there was an “issue.”

It’s What?

Not sure what Women’s Money Week is exactly? Well, you are in luck! I am participating in it and I am here to provide you some information.

“Women’s Money Week is about encouraging women to speak up about money, take control of their finances, and reshape their financial futures. Women’s Money Week is a first annual event running from March 5th-11th, 2012 — coinciding with International Women’s Day.” (Source: WomensMoneyWeek.com)

With my being a woman (Shocking, I know!) and (even more shocking) REALLY bad with money, I wanted to participate in this event. It took me nearly 15 years to realize that debt was a bad thing in my life. That is 15 years too long. I don’t want that to happen to other women (men too but this week it’s all about the estrogen!). I’ve made it this blog’s mission to encourage others to have conversations about money with those they love, especially their children. And this week, I’m encouraging you to empower yourself (if you are a woman) and your daughters.

We’re Not Gonna Take It!

No longer do the women have to sit back and let the men take control of the finances. DO NOT just say “I’m bad with money so I let him do it all.” Well if you are bad with money and numbers, it’s time to learn how to be good with them! DO NOT learn once it’s too late.

Women are staying single longer, choosing a career before a spouse and family. While I think that is great, it’s also causing some other problems with finances. Women are spending more than they should be. I don’t know the statistics, but my guess is that women have more debt than men.

Power to the People Women!

So this week, be sure to check out the Women’s Money Week website, sign up for emails from the contributors (myself included), there’s a giveaway for one of four $25 Amazon Gift Cards for you to sign up for as well.

I hope to add to the discussion this week with additional posts about women and money here at The Debt Princess. (but don’t hold your breath, I’m a bit overwhelmed with school at the moment)

This post is a part of Women’s Money Week 2012. For more posts about , see womensmoneyweek.com.

I also blog at A Five Star Life. I write about anything that comes to mind but try to focus on finding the good in daily life.

Awesome! Women are often the family CEO (at least in my house), so we men need you to help us put our plans in action. Now that my wife is fully on board with our plans, things have been running very smoothly.

Women’s Money Week is a fantastic idea! Encouraging women to properly manage their money and warn about the pitfalls of debt is EMPOWERMENT! My company helps many people resolve their debt by negotiating directly with their creditors to come up with repayment plans the CONSUMER can afford.

Good luck with your blogs Debt Princess – you have a new follower!
